A Geeky Analogy
When we first get our brand-new computer, Smartphone, or Tablet straight from the factory via a retailer or Net Provider and you switch it on, it comes complete with a hard drive and an integrated Operating System plus a few basic Apps. The hard drive has been pre-programmed with inbuilt safety programs, Boot Up capability and a lot of internal stuff we wouldn’t normally get to see or learn about as they’re not relevant to us as Users but are to those who built the computer or device.
We then personalise our new gadget with our personal details, passwords, and other protective measures, then maybe transfer all the data from our old device, such as contacts and Apps and images over to our new toy. We’re pretty much ready to go by this point and all we have to do is open our Apps, log-in and start using them.
There are usually other factory and provider Apps and programs which we may never use but as we don’t know what to do with them, we keep them, just in case they’re important. After all that off we go surfing and chatting and downloading and streaming and enjoy our new Computer, Smartphone or similar device.
Should our device have a malfunction, break down, freeze, get a virus and we’re unable to fix it ourselves, there’s a whole bunch of Device Doctors who can help. If it’s not overly serious we can usually jump online and consult a Forum, an AI Techie or Chatbot, or even another human and get solutions.
If it’s really serious we may send it away or take it to an expert who can strip it all down and, if needs be, perform surgery and rebuild our device for us, maybe by replacing a few parts with brand new or nearly new. Each time we use our new computer or mobile device it is learning how to access our favourite programs quickly and easily to make our experience more pleasurable. The Apps do the same and, at times, may also suggest new things we may like to try.
At this point I would say that some of you are starting to get the picture, there’s probably a few light bulbs switching on as you start to grasp what I’m describing here. However, for those who aren’t that far along as yet, and also to create more clarity, let’s see how the above analogy ties in with the Ego.
More Next Time,
Until then,
Namaste!
