I Published My Book…

And Then subsequently Unpublished it!

I was so excited to get Proof and an Author copies of my book – Retrain Your Ego! – from KDP, and whilst I thought the package was a little bigger than expected due to the books perhaps being side-by-side, I was shocked to find I had received two Massive copies! They are the size of a Car Mechanics Manual or and a Science book we used to get in school.

Somehow I had chosen the wrong trim size and instead of a 8 x 9 I had entered 8.5 x 11! So how had this happened? Firstly, I let the excitement of publishing a book I had worked on for the past two years get to me and Secondly, I should have waited until the next day and do a final check over for any mistakes instead of clicking the Publish Button and 3.30am!  

My first book back in 2018 was too small, at least in my opinion, and this was too big. I am currently going through a Reformat using KDP Creator Templates and I’ll use their Cover Templates to get the cover how I want it too.

We learn by mistakes and yes Fools Rush In, but this Goldilocks is making sure it’s just right this time around.

Moral: Take your Time, don’t allow the excitement of being published overwhelm you and check, double and even triple check if needs be.
