The Fake Living Misdirection

For over thirty years I was a Network Marketer and during that time I learned a method taught and used by many leaders as part of their goal setting strategy which is known as ‘Fake it ‘til you make it’, which you have most likely heard of. We were taught to act like we had already achieved our major goal and, for example, to dress and act like we were already a highly successful businessperson. It was even suggested to hire a flash car, hold meetings in the lobbies of prestigious hotels and pretend we were living the lifestyle of our dreams to impress potential clients or Prospects.
You can still see images of people doing this on Social Media, standing beside the latest Porsche or Ferrari which is usually on the driveway of a big beach house or outside a really posh Golf Club. With all the modern technology available at our fingertips AI makes it so easy to create such images whilst sitting in our parents’ basement in our PJs and, whereas it’s great for your Vision Board, it’s not so great when you pretend it’s real. Here's the reality of using such tactics:
Many have actually taken this pretence literally and put themselves into a whole lot of debt by maxing out their credit cards paying for the luxuries they couldn’t really afford.
They bought designer suits, hand crafted shoes, hired flash cars and so on just to impress prospects, to persuade them into joining whatever scheme they were offering by suggesting they would also get all those trappings of wealth in an unrealistically short period of time.
Personally, I have never been a fan of ‘Fake it ‘til you make it’ because you’re not being honest with yourself or those around you and - in my opinion - it’s a dishonest and manipulative tool. There is a difference between visualizing or dream building compared to this form of trickery. And besides, your subconscious mind, as I’ve already mentioned, knows the truth and will remind you of that, perhaps through a call from your Bank manager, a threatening letter from your credit card company, phone calls and emails about unpaid bills, an eviction notice or your parents suggesting you move out and find your own basement!
I believe as a goal setting tool it was originally well intended however it doesn’t work so well in practice. Many prefer not to use it as it just doesn’t feel right and if your intuition is saying something like that then you should be listening – intently!
Being inauthentic in this way, or in other ways such as emulating someone who you would like to be, is not the best route to take. Being your True and Authentic Self, complete with all the bumps and squiggles, is always the best way, the best direction to travel in. It’s not an easy route, as I’m still finding out after all this time, but it is so much more fun!
At the end of the day there’s only one You in this 3D Reality, so what’s the point of shoving that uniqueness to one side to try and be someone else? If you don’t love and accept yourself for who you are right now then LEARN because there no true doppelgangers out there who can take your place - not even your identical twin - so be integrous to yourself, be Authentically YOU, treat yourself with the Love and Respect you deserve and accept the Sacred Truth of that YOU are YOU and no one else.
Until next time,
Namaste,
Jeremy R Scott
